The Awkward Gathering – reading

Readings are a great way to build the vocabulary and spark conversations. Today I prepared an interactive reading – the text is divided into parts and after each part, there is a question. You can pause, check the understanding and talk about the paragraph or what they think will happen next. A great conversation starter!

Instructions

Age group: teenagers, adults

Level: A2 – B1

Time: 20-30 minutes

Resources available: a story in pdf (printer-friendly), the story as a presentation (+ pdf version of the presentation), vocabulary lists for emotions and words from the text, and an exercise worksheet.

Instructions: There are two versions of the text – a pdf and a presentation. PDF – You can print the text, cut it into pieces, and give the students parts one by one. PRESENTATION – You can share the screen (online classes) or show the presentation on the projector and present the text slide by slide. As you go, add the question listed and any additional that you come up with.

Happy teaching and learning!
