A Gentle Introduction to Business English: Office Equipment & Desk Setup

When learners begin Business English, starting with something familiar makes everything easier — and more enjoyable. That’s why this lesson focuses on simple office equipment (printer, monitor, keyboard, stapler…) and everyday desk-setup tips. It’s a gentle, friendly way to bring students into the world of workplace English without overwhelming them.

This topic works beautifully because your learners already know these objects from daily life. They use a desk, a chair, a monitor, and a notepad almost every day — so they instantly understand the context. At the same time, the lesson opens the door to meaningful conversation: What does their workspace look like? Do they prefer a tidy desk or a messy one?

The lesson includes vocabulary introduction (with pictures and a true/false task) and a fun ‘questionable desk setup advice’ activity. Some tips are good, some are terrible — perfect for sparking discussion at A2 level. Students learn useful phrases, practise giving opinions, and talk about something that’s actually relevant to their real working lives.

It’s practical, communicative, and confidence-building — everything you want in an early Business English lesson.

Happy teaching & learning!
