Looking for an engaging way to help your students practise forming questions with to be and have/have got? This activity is designed for A1–A2 learners and combines grammar revision with vocabulary practice in a fun speaking game.
The game works well with pairs or small groups. One student secretly chooses a picture from a set of similar characters. The other students must find out which picture it is by asking only yes/no questions. For example:
- Does he have a beard?
- Is her hair long?
- Has she got a red jacket?
Once the correct picture is guessed, students swap roles.
The activity comes with a quick grammar revision sheet to remind learners how to form questions with to be and have/have got. It can be easily adapted for different levels: A1 learners stick to simple physical descriptions, while A2 learners can try more challenging questions about personality or mood (e.g. Does he look serious?).
It’s a flexible classroom resource that supports vocabulary development (clothes, body, hair, personality) and strengthens speaking confidence.
